Kenya Launches Anti-Tobacco Mass Media Campaign

The Ministry of Health in collaboration with the World Lung Foundation and Tobacco Control Civil Society Organizations in Kenya, today (Dec 02, 2014) marked a significant milestone in the fight against Tobacco with the launch of a Mass Media campaign.

Massmedialaunch The Campaign dubbed Smoking  Kills was officially launched at  the Panafric Hotel in Nairobi.  The highlight of the campaign    will be to:

  •  Educate the public on the  consequences of smoking  tobacco.
  •  To implement the provisions of  the Tobacco Control Act 2007

 Mass Media  campaign will be the  most effective way to  promote behavior  change as well as encourage smokers to quit the vice. Civil societies and the respective ministries need to work together to ensure the fight against the tobacco menace is won.  Joel Gitali – KETCA Chair

During the launch, ILA CEO Vincent Kimosop reiterated that the fight against tobacco is critical for the future of the country and the mass media campaign is an important addition to the fight.
